The end of this month, November 2016, has been a very exciting time for me as a writer, which I have decided to commemorate by setting up this website.
I spent November writing away feverishly on the first draft of my new novel for NaNoWriMo and managed to complete the 50,000 word challenge. Just as I was nearing the end, the December/January issue of Mslexia was pushed through our letterbox, with my story, Sister Arilda of the Healing Hands in it. On the same day I got an email from The Broken City Magazine to say that they had accepted another one of my stories.
I spent a lot of time this year sending my first novel out to agents who weren’t interested (though quite a few were encouraging) and getting short stories rejected. I’ve had enough encouragement from people whose opinions I trust to keep at it, but it’s still been great to have these signs that I really should be a writer.
